Why this site. Lalibela's eleven churches carry a beloved tradition that angels built them in a single night, alongside a more complex multi-phase archaeological reality. We present both rather than letting one erase the other. On geometry we make no claim: our atlas offers only four catalogued sites within 200 kilometres of Lalibela, which is nowhere near enough to test anything. The Ethiopian highlands are a coverage gap, and saying so is more useful than a number we cannot stand behind.
